Dear CMAA Family and Friends,
亲爱的朋友们,

Well, that’s it.  We’re now coming up on 1 year.  One year of ZOOM, limited class sizes, hand sanitizer and masks.  We have had ZERO instances of COVID at CMAA.  We will remain vigilant but I think its fair to say we stood strong and held our own.  I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished.  Check out this months newsletter and see what’s going on at CMAA!  You don’t want to miss out.

March. Class Schedule

To get the most updated version of our current class schedule please visit our live calendar!

https://martialartsalbany.sites.zenplanner.com/calendar.cfm

To ensure the safety of all students, we have revised our group class schedule to reduce the time of classes each day and to ensure there is a break between the classes. This is to minimize any potential overlap/contact among students and allow time for necessary clean-up between classes.

Classes will be offered in 2 different types:

1.Classes offered On Site w/ Online option (ex. Tai Chi) .

2. Classes On Site (ex. Kungfu, Tai Chi, Sanda Kickboxing, and Combatives).

Please note onsite classes require registration and have a 14 person maximum. Classes on ZOOM do not require registration and there is no capacity limit.

For ZOOM classes Tai Chi sign in information will remain the same:

Karate and Tae Kwon Do at CMAA Recap!

WOW!  What a night.  We did back to back FREE classes on Kyokushin Karate, and Tae Kwon Do with two phenomenal instructors at CMAA on Monday March 1st!

As a martial artist I believe all arts have their own unique benefits. I also believe that a few styles blend particularly well with our own. When taught by a wonderful instructor you can greatly broaden and deepen your appreciation for martial arts in general!

This was a special opportunity to do just that.

We were very lucky to have 5th Degree Black Belt Shihan Sean Schenker from Fighting Spirit Martial Arts & Fitness share his wealth of experience and knowledge with us virtually via ZOOM!

This was followed by a second class taught by guest instructor and fellow student Master Tom Collins. A 4th Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, Master Collins brought an incredible wealth of knowledge to CMAA, sharing more tips, tricks and training methods to put your feet on your opponent's head!

I feel incredibly fortunate to have the chance to work with so many great people. Hard working students, training partners and instructors! I appreciate you Shihan and Master Tom for sharing your knowledge and experience. What a special day. The journey is truly what we make it!

Judo Club

This group meets Friday mornings at 7am.  We are led by two National Judo champions.  The instruction is very technical but we always have time for Randori at the end of class for those who are interested.  All levels are welcome.  Membership dues are $40/month for CMAA members.

Tik Tok Wushu
I’ve always loved watching the best of the best training.  Competition is great, but theres something about the daily grind, the “training montage” if you will, that just inspires me.  Here are a few spectacular videos that show just that.  Check out the technique, style and insane athleticism these guys have!

The Origins of Tai Chi
“As one of China’s most renowned traditional forms of Kung Fu, with its specialty in edifying people’s temperament and building the body, Taijiquan, also known as Tai Chi boxing, appeared on China’s first list of its national intangible cultural heritage. It is not only a symbol of Eastern culture but also one of the most popular forms of martial arts in the world. So what exactly is it? The 11th-generation successor of Chen-style, Zhu Tiancai, gives his explanation. Zhu, 73 years old, has been a practitioner for over 60 years.”
